SlidesAI stays inside familiar office software.
Two popular comparison terms need correction. The original Tome Slides product has been shut down since 2025. Lovable is an AI app builder, not a native presentation generator. Both are useful to discuss, but neither should be scored as if it were a currently available Gamma equivalent.

How we compared the category.
We used six decision criteria: the quality and controllability of the first-draft workflow, support for source files, editing control, PPTX/PDF delivery, sharing, and the cost signal for an individual subscriber. Official documentation was treated as a product fact. Statements about who a tool suits best are our editorial interpretation of those facts.
We deliberately did not award numerical design-quality scores. A fair visual comparison requires the same brief, source pack, slide count and export inspection across every product. A feature list cannot substitute for that test.
01 / Gamma
Best for AI-native, web-first storytelling.
Gamma positions itself as more than a slide editor: its current plans cover presentations, documents, websites, social content and images. The official pricing page lists PDF, PPTX, PNG and Google Slides export, while Gamma's sharing documentation describes view, comment and edit permissions. Its newer Agent workflow can combine uploaded material and web research, although Gamma labels that Agent creation mode as experimental.
That makes Gamma a natural candidate when the first deliverable is a shareable, AI-native story rather than a conventional file. The trade-off is worth testing: “exports to PPTX” does not by itself guarantee that every element, font and responsive card will behave like a slide built natively in PowerPoint.

Best for a broad visual-design ecosystem.
Canva's Magic Design for Presentations turns a short prompt into a draft with an outline, content and visual direction. From there, the product connects to Canva's wider editor, stock media and AI tools. Canva's official page also highlights inviting others to design together, downloading, sharing and offline presenting.
The official AI presentation page currently says Magic Design can be used up to ten times for free across its supported surfaces, with more access through Canva Pro. Canva also documents PPTX workflows. Its practical advantage is breadth: a presentation can live alongside social graphics, video and other campaign assets. Users who want a narrowly focused presentation workflow may find that breadth less direct than a specialist tool.

03 / Beautiful.ai
Best for structured, automatic layouts.
Beautiful.ai's core idea is the Smart Slide: layouts adapt while content changes, reducing manual alignment work. Its current pricing page lists more than 300 Smart Slide layouts alongside AI content generation, AI images, writing assistance, translation, charts, themes and animations.
The individual Pro plan is listed at $12 per month when billed annually. The company also offers a $45 one-time presentation option. Real-time live co-editing is presented as a Team feature, so solo buyers should not assume the individual plan includes the same collaboration workspace.
Beautiful.ai explicitly documents editable PowerPoint and Google Slides export for paid plans. It also provides the clearest export caveat in this group: external platforms do not preserve its transitions and animations.

Best for brand-led decks and delivery analytics.
Pitch combines an AI presentation workflow with a mature slide editor. Pitch Agent can start from a prompt, use attached files as context, apply a template and refine individual slides through chat. The surrounding product adds live co-editing, comments, slide assignments, presentation links and engagement analytics.
For individual users, the US Plus plan is listed at $15 monthly or $13 per month with annual billing. PPTX export and removal of Pitch branding are included in Plus. Pitch uses AI credits, but two current official pages disagree about the annual Plus allocation; we therefore recommend checking the live checkout rather than repeating a potentially stale number.

05 / SlidesAI
Best for staying inside PowerPoint or Google Slides.
SlidesAI takes a different route: it runs as an add-in within PowerPoint and Google Slides. It can turn a topic or pasted notes into an outline and deck, then rewrite, translate, adjust layouts and add generated or stock imagery without introducing a separate presentation editor.
The annual individual plans currently show a free Basic tier with 12 presentations per year, Pro at $10 per month billed $120 per year, and Premium at $20.83 per month billed $250 per year. Because work remains in the host application, sharing and co-editing rely primarily on PowerPoint or Google Slides rather than a separately documented SlidesAI collaboration workspace.

Category correction / Tome
The original Tome Slides product is discontinued.
Many “best AI presentation tools” pages still list Tome as if it were an active option. Tome's own help center says Tome Slides was sunset on April 30, 2025, after which users could no longer sign in or access their content. Active Pro subscriptions were cancelled and the company instructed users to export important work before closure.
A separate, similarly named website appearing later is not enough evidence of continuity with the original product. We do not treat it as the same service unless the original company provides that confirmation.

Category correction / Lovable
Lovable builds applications, not PowerPoint decks.
Lovable's official documentation defines it as a full-stack AI development platform. A user describes an application in natural language, and Lovable can generate frontend, backend, database, authentication and integrations backed by editable code. Its publishing workflow deploys a web application to a live URL.
That can be valuable if your goal is an interactive, custom web presentation or a presentation-building product of your own. It is not the same purchasing decision as choosing a tool that produces an editable PPTX. We found no native PPTX generation workflow in Lovable's official core product definition.

Export the result, open it on another computer and check what remains editable. That thirty-minute test is more useful than a hundred generic rankings.

Can AI presentation makers export editable PowerPoint files?
Several can export PPTX, but editability and visual fidelity are not identical. Beautiful.ai explicitly documents editable PowerPoint export on paid plans. Gamma, Pitch and SlidesAI also document PPTX workflows. Always test fonts, charts, media, transitions and speaker notes with your own template before committing.
Is Gamma better than Canva for presentations?
Gamma is more focused on AI-native, card-based storytelling and multi-format publishing. Canva offers a much broader visual-design ecosystem.
