Effective July 15, 2026. This guide describes the current personal-plan credit schedule. StoryDeck shows a quote before every billable action; that confirmation screen is the controlling price if this article is updated later than the product.
The short version
Credits follow the work you ask for.
A short text-only deck should not cost the same as a researched, image-rich presentation. StoryDeck therefore combines a small base charge with visible units: slides, source files, source volume, generated images, research and export pages.
Before work starts, StoryDeck calculates the maximum confirmed scope and temporarily reserves that amount. When the job completes, the ledger settles the work actually delivered and releases any unused difference. You can see the estimate before confirming and the settled entry afterward.
Personal plans
A simple monthly allowance.
1,000 credits each month
2,500 credits each month
5,000 credits each month
All three allowances use the same transparent ratio of two cents per included credit. Choose the capacity that matches your normal month rather than trying to predict a different unit price.
Top-ups add room without changing the subscription level. Review the live purchase summary for payment terms and the exact balance change before buying.
Rate card

Full generation
The complete formula.
“Source-token thousands” is the source volume shown by the estimator in units of 1,000 tokens. It is separate from the number of files: three concise sources and three long reports require the same file-count fee but not the same amount of source processing.
Outline generation
An outline is priced at 35% of the corresponding full-generation estimate, with a minimum of 20 credits. This preserves the benefit of planning first while recognizing that an outline still requires source reading, narrative structure and slide sequencing.
Rewrites and images
A rewrite costs 20 credits plus 10 credits per selected slide. A newly generated image costs 10 credits. Selecting only the slides that need work keeps the scope—and the quote—clear.
Exports
PPTX export costs 6 credits plus 1 credit per slide. PDF export costs 9 credits plus 2 credits per slide. Exports are separate because they run a document-rendering and packaging workflow after the deck itself has been created.
Ledger behavior
Reserve. Settle. Release.
Estimate
StoryDeck shows the confirmed scope and maximum credit quote before work starts.
Reserve
The quoted amount becomes temporarily unavailable so simultaneous jobs cannot spend it twice.
Settle
Completed, delivered work becomes a final ledger charge based on the billable units used.
Release
Any unused difference returns to the available balance. Failed work that produced no billable result is released.
Cancellation follows the same principle. Work that has not been completed is not retained as a final charge; completed portions already delivered may settle, while the remainder is released. The account ledger records the outcome instead of silently moving the balance.
Worked examples
From quote to final number.
A 12-slide researched presentation
Scope: 12 slides, 3 source files, 11,000 source tokens, 7 generated images and web research.
A PPTX export adds 6 + 12 = 18 credits, for 218 credits in total. A PDF export instead adds 9 + 24 = 33 credits, for 233 credits in total.
Plan the same deck before generating it
The full-generation estimate above is 200 credits. Outline generation is 35% of that amount: 70 credits. Because 70 is above the 20-credit minimum, the minimum does not apply.
Rewrite one slide and make two new images
Rewrite: 20 + (10 × 1) = 30 credits. Images: 10 × 2 = 20 credits. The combined quote is 50 credits.
What the example means for each plan
If every generation matched Example A and no other paid actions were used, Plus could cover five 200-credit generations, Pro twelve with 100 credits remaining, and Ultra twenty-five. This is an illustration—not a promised deck count. Your actual scope, images, research, rewrites and exports determine usage.
FAQ
The questions behind the balance.
What is a StoryDeck credit?
A credit is the unit StoryDeck uses to price AI and document-processing work. It is not a token from a specific model and it is not cash. One action can combine language generation, image work, research, rendering and export processing, so its credit formula reflects the complete workflow.
Why does StoryDeck reserve credits before work starts?
Reservation confirms that the account can cover the quoted job and prevents two simultaneous jobs from spending the same balance. Reserved credits are temporarily unavailable; they are not yet the final settled charge.
Do failed or canceled jobs use credits?
Unused reserved credits are released when a job fails or is canceled. If no billable work was completed, the reservation returns to the available balance. If part of the requested work completed and was delivered, that completed portion may be settled and the unused remainder is released.
Why can the final charge be lower than the reservation?
The reservation is based on the confirmed maximum scope. If the completed job uses fewer billable units—for example, fewer generated images—the ledger settles the actual work and releases the difference.
How much does an outline cost?
An outline costs 35% of the corresponding full-generation estimate, with a minimum charge of 20 credits. StoryDeck shows the whole-credit quote before confirmation.
Are PPTX and PDF exports charged separately?
Yes. PPTX export costs 6 credits plus 1 credit per slide. PDF export costs 9 credits plus 2 credits per slide. The export quote is shown before the export begins.
Can I add credits without changing plans?
Yes. Optional one-time top-ups are 1,000 credits for $18 or 5,000 credits for $85. The purchase screen shows the exact balance change before payment.
